Meet the Loco Beach Coconuts: Roster, Coaches and Their Debut Season

Banana Ball spent five years with a cast fans knew by heart. Then the league added a beach party. The Loco Beach Coconuts arrived for 2026 as an expansion team with two mascots, a World Series champion in the dugout and, as it turned out, the best hitter in the league.

Who are the Loco Beach Coconuts?

The Coconuts were announced on October 9, 2025, alongside the revived Indianapolis Clowns, as part of the expansion that grew the Banana Ball Championship League to six teams. They were the fifth franchise in the league, and Bananas owner Jesse Cole pitched them as the most fun, unique and crazy brand the organization had built.

The concept is a traveling beach party. Tropical uniforms, a color scheme somewhere between sea glass and sunscreen, and two mascots — Coco the Coconut and Peter Colada — whose job is to turn whatever stadium they walk into that night into a coastline.

Where is Loco Beach?

Nowhere. This is the question people ask most, and the answer is that "Loco Beach" is not a real town.

Unlike the Texas Tailgaters or the Indianapolis Clowns, the Coconuts weren't built around a geographic market. The name is a brand, not a hometown. Like every Banana Ball club, the team is operated out of Savannah, Georgia, and the league has never attached it to a real location. If you go looking for Loco Beach on a map, you won't find it — the beach travels with the team.

Who coaches the Loco Beach Coconuts?

Two names, two jobs.

Mark Crocco is the head coach and runs the club day to day. He spent eight seasons at Erskine College in South Carolina building a Division II program that won more than 225 games with seven straight winning seasons, then coached the Visitors — Banana Ball's developmental team — before taking the Coconuts job.

Shane Victorino is the primetime coach. The "Flyin' Hawaiian" was a two-time All-Star with the Phillies and Red Sox, won World Series titles in 2008 and 2013, and collected multiple Gold Gloves in center field. In Banana Ball he manages the marquee games and fronts the team's island-pride identity year-round.

The Loco Beach Coconuts roster

The roster follows the league template: former college and minor-league players mixed with entertainers. What separates this particular expansion roster is that it can flat-out hit.

Tanner Allen is the headline. The left fielder leads the entire Banana Ball Championship League in hits and batting average, sitting at .407 with 90 hits, 7 home runs, 38 RBI and 51 runs scored — second-most runs in the league. No one else with a full workload is close to that average.

He isn't alone:

• Ben Parker, CF — .368 with 67 hits and 9 stolen bases, top five in the league in average
• Dane Tofteland, 3B — a team-leading 52 RBI with 7 home runs and a .355 average
• Jordan Brewer, 1B — 45 RBI, 5 home runs, 46 runs scored
• Gideon Antle, RF — .322 with 40 RBI
• Ashby Vining, C — .311 with 6 home runs

On the mound, Drake Fontenot has been the workhorse, throwing a team-high 93 2/3 innings with a team-best 4.13 ERA among the regular starters, while Will Ethridge has gone 5-1 across 74 2/3 innings.

How the Coconuts' debut season has gone

Better than most expansion teams have any right to expect — and tighter than they'd like.

Through games of August 29, 2026, the Coconuts sit fourth in the league at 26-28, holding the final playoff berth. They've scored 191 points and allowed 189, a plus-2 differential, and pulled off 512 successful trick plays, second-most in the league behind only the Tailgaters. The problem is timing. They've dropped five straight and gone 2-8 over their last ten, with seven games left to play. Their magic number to clinch a playoff spot is four; their elimination number is seven. Nothing is settled.

The head-to-head splits explain the season neatly. The Coconuts have handled most of the league — 7-5 against the Texas Tailgaters, 7-5 against the Party Animals, 7-4 against the Firefighters. The exception is the Savannah Bananas, who have beaten them 10 times in 12 meetings. Beat everyone but the flagship, and you end up exactly where the Coconuts are: in the race, not comfortable in it.

Where the Coconuts play, and what's next

The debut schedule put the Coconuts on real stages: the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World on May 29-30, a June trip to the Jersey Shore with the Party Animals, a meeting with the Tailgaters at Nelson Wolff Stadium in San Antonio on June 26-27, a Delaware stop, and the regular-season closer against the Bananas at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough on August 29.

Four teams reach the October playoffs — the Banana Ball Open champion Texas Tailgaters, who locked up an automatic berth, plus the top finishers by winning percentage. The season ends with the first Banana Bowl on Saturday, October 10, 2026 at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C., streaming on Disney+ and the Banana Ball YouTube channel. The league has not announced the bracket or the dates of the rounds before the Bowl.
